The police chase ends with the crash into the fire hydrant

UPDATE: Mobile police identified 19-year-old Bobby Williams of Mobile as the driver who slammed his car into a fire hydrant after leading officers in a short vehicle chase during a traffic arrest attempt Thursday afternoon. He was arrested after a brief foot chase after the accident.

Williams is accused of leaving the scene of an accident, attempting to evade, carrying a gun without permission, and possessing second-degree marijuana.


MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – On Thursday, a mobile police driver lost control of his car and crashed into a fire hydrant.

The impact caused water to spill all over Washington Place. The agents caught the driver a few blocks away on Lexington Street.

Investigators have not released his name.
